Pearl Harbor, John Lennon, Christmas Rush and losing the spirit...
Yesterday was Dec 7, a day that will live in infamy. A moment of silence for all those lost and injured on that horrible day. God bless every one of our soldiers, wherever they may be.
Today is the 25th anniversary of the John Lennon shooting. I've been to NY once and was fortunate to visit Strawberry Fields in Central Park. A peaceful place amid a world of chaos.
Are we (humans) losing the Christmas spirit??? The neighboring city (45 miles away, closest Wal-Mart) had a fight at the Wal-Crap between 2 guys. For a state that has less than 500,000 people total...the big city attitudes are creeping in. I don't like Wal-Mart or their business practices, but I don't understand why you would fight (with a knife!!!) over something that has been discounted!?!
Three more sleeps then HOB and I are off to the great white north!!! I hope we spend more time with friends than family. His dad and step-mom are recently separated and his sister has taken dad's side (totally predictable...unwilling to try to see both sides). Aparently HOB and I are the only ones talking to step-mom...but we look at it with some maturity. It wasn't our marriage that was having problems...it's not our place to make judgements on who was right or wrong. The bad thing is that my sister in law doesn't let our nephew see his grandma anymore....why fuck up your kid??? Any time I spend with her will be monopolized by her trying to get me to her side. I'm not on anyone's side and she can't understand that. Oh well...
Not much else to say so I will leave you with some random thoughts...
1 - the first blog I ever read was Paul Katcher at paulkatcher.com.
2 - I hate people that can't drive in winter conditions
3 - my HOB will let me warm my feet on his legs...and that is only 1 of the many reasons that I love him
4 - I have the best girlfriends in the world, both in the US and in Canada
5 - I love 80's music
6 - I love to travel, but hate leaving my cats alone...go figure
7 - I love hockey!
That's all folks...catch you on the flip side!
Peace out!

40th Birthday...Done with Christmas (already!)
Hello peeps...
Did you miss me? Yea, whatever!
What's been happening with y'all? How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Mine was quiet but good. HOB and I spent the day cuddled on the couch watching movies, took a walk and had a lovely dinner. Unfortunately we both had to work the next day :( However, my brother turned 40 and I planned a fabulous party for him the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Sent out 100 invites, ordered the cake, planned the menu...etc. The party was a blast, he got more than a little drunk and I can't remember the last time we had shots together (Crown for him, Corona Gold or Mezcal for me). Since my parents were on a cruise for the actual turkey day, mom had an amazing dinner on Sunday. Man that girl can cook, homemade rolls, cranberry salad, real mashed potatoes, the juciest turkey in the world and pumpkin pie still warm from the oven. I was in charge of picking out the wine and making the gravy. All in all it was a great holiday weekend (with a little work in the middle).
10 more days and HOB and I will be in the great white north of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. mmmmmmm can't wait for some thai noodle bowls and double vodka paralyzers. Vodka, kahlua, coke and milk...yummy! If I'm lucky, I'll partake in joint or two with my sister in law...it's been a while for that activity so it should be interesting! We have some banking affairs to take care of, but when that's done it's nothing but shopping, drinking and visiting with all our friends and family.
So, my HOB (honey o'bunny) and I have visited with our jewler friend and have decided to redesign my wedding set. It's funny how your tastes change after time. He's made the wax mold and the next step is handing over my rings, melting the gold and pouring it into the mold. We've designed it similar to HOB's ring (which I designed with the jewler friend 10 years ago). This jewler has made some stunning pieces for me and my family over the years, it really is special to have this done. I'll keep you posted.
I'd like to give a shout out to Blondie at http://trustmeimablond.blogspot.com. She found 3 abandonded pussies in the rain and took them in for warmth and nourishment. She has a vet that will make sure these miniature lions will find a good home. I have a weakness for abandonded animals and would take in every one if I could, however my own pussies (Princess and Trouble) have a problem with acceptance. I have a friend that owns a pet resort and she is always willing to take in strays.
54 more days until I get to see my beloved Calgary Flames play the Colorado Avalanche. Did I mention our seats are right next to the Colorado team in the 6th row? Did I also mention that I will be proudly wearing my Flames #23 jersey? If you get the game on TV try to spot me out...I'm sure I'll be the only one wearing red...ha!
Ok, chums...back to the grindstone for me. It's almost Friday...I have a bottle of Gerwitzerminer (sp?) waiting for me at home...keep chilling kids and until next time...
Peace out, bitches!
